Classics Theater of Rochester presents: The Theban Plays of Sophocles
with new translations by Ian Johnston – adapted and directed by James Landers
Three of the surviving plays of the ancient Greek tragedian, Sophocles, generally known as The Theban Plays, chronicle the fate of Oedipus and his unfortunate family. Classics Theater, in consultation with Canadian scholar, Ian Johnston, has adapted his three recent translations, and presents all three plays in less than three hours. The project is the culmination of years of study, featuring Roger Gans as Tiresias, James Lockhart and John Gaehring as young and old Oedipus, and introducing Emily Jusino as Antigone.
