An Eastman School of Music grad is staying put in her Sugar Land, Texas home, as the rains from Harvey continue to pelt the area.
Violinist Emily Osinski says she's in one of the few neighborhoods that isn't underwater right now.
And she's in a voluntary evacuation zone.
"(It's) less than a mile from a mandatory evacuation zone. A little scary. We actually tried to evacuate yesterday. We got all of our stuff packed into the car and then we started looking at the roads and realized there's absolutely no way out," she said.
Osinsky says she and her boyfriend and her two children will ride out the storm in their home.
As a professional musician, she says it's heart breaking to see what's happening to downtown Houston.
"The theatre where the opera and the ballet performs is underwater. And the theatre district is underwater. I'm sure there is a lot of damage to the museums, and just everything that is important, in our culture," she said.
Osinski expects the recovery from this will be very difficult.
