Concierto is a weekly program of classical music presented in Spanish and English. The program features classical music by Latin American and Spanish composers and musicians.

Ways to Connect

This week Concierto pays tribute to the great Spanish nationalist composer Enrique Granados. Guitarist David Russell plays his famous “Spanish Dance No. 5,” and you’ll hear his masterpiece, “Goyescas,” played by Cuban pianist Jorge Luis Prats.

This week on Concierto Frank Dominguez shares a special program for Hispanic Heritage Month, featuring influential Latino conductors of U.S. orchestras such as Maximiano Valdés, Giancarlo Guerrero, and Gustavo Dudamel. Also, we celebrate pianists who have come to the U.S. from Latin America such as Cubans Jorge Bolet, Horacio Gutierrez, and more recently Gabriela Montero from Venezuela.

This week experience musical landscapes from Cuban composer Leo Brouwer and Mexican Carlos Chávez, as well as Spaniard Alicia de Larrocha playing Mozart.

Daniel Binelli Official Website

Bandoneon player, composer, arranger and musical director, Daniel Binelli has had an outstanding international career. He was for 10 years a member of Osvaldo Pugliese's Orchestra and later joined the "Orquesta de Atilio Stampone" and the "Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires" as a bandoneon soloist. In 1989 he was invited by Astor Piazzolla to join Piazzolla's New Tango Sextet with which he toured widely in Europe and Latin America. Today Binelli is widely acclaimed as the foremost exponent and torchbearer of the music of Astor Piazzolla.
